Things To Do in Barnegat Light, New Jersey

Barnegat Lighthouse

"Old Barney" - The lighthouse was built in 1858 and became a navigation beacon for ships at sea in 1927. Known for being a vital navigation tool for those traveling through the Barnegat Inlet, in the 1950s it became a state park that is now known as Barnegat Lighthouse State Park.

Barnegat Light Tennis Court

A tennis court conveniently located at 11th Street, Barnegat Light has three tennis courts that can be accessed between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. To set up reservation at the Beach Badge Booth call (609) 494-9196 or stop by behind Borough Hall. Cost is $10.

Barnegat Light Museum

The historic scenery of Barnegat Light has become the home to the Barnegat Light Museum. You can access this museum during July and August between the hours of 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.
*It can also be accessed for one week in June and September.

Boat Launch

The borough of Barnegat Light operates a public boat launching ramp located at 10th Street and Bay view Avenue. Daily Fee is $10.00. Season passes are $55.00. The ramp is open from 6 am - 10 p.m. seven days a week during the summer season.

Barnegat Light Beaches provide an atmosphere of calm and relaxation to all visitors. Stop in to town now and enjoy the beautiful weather.
  • Barnegat Light has one of the most beautiful beaches on the New Jersey coast. Please help us protect the dunes by using established pathways for access to the beach.
  • Beach Badges are required on all beaches for everyone twelve and over, from the third week of June until Labor Day. Badges are provided for all registered guests. Additional badges may be purchased at the Beach Badge Booth located near the tennis courts at the rear of Borough Hall on West 10th Street.
  • We make sure lifeguards are on duty for your protection seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from the third week in June until Labor Day.
  • A protected bay beach is available for children with swings and other recreational equipment for children at 25th Street and Bayview Avenue.
